The Global Ischemia Foundation was created to encourage research in the area of central nervous system ischemic accidents. A Global Ischemic Event deprives brain tissue and cells of required oxygen and nutrients to sustain survival and contribute to standard neural operating procedures. This is what happened to my friend, Kathleen Davey, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on January 24, 2004. While Kathleen was being resuscitated from her cardiac arrest, her brain suffered an anoxic ischemic injury and she is still on the path to recovery. You can follow her latest updates on her blog, Get Well Kathleen
If you would like to contribute to this foundation by donating handmade cards or handmade / altered items, please contact me by email. I will be putting together a fundraiser towards the end of this year or the earlier part of next year, depending on the response I get. Other donations can be made directly through Global Ischemia Foundation via Paypal. Thank you!
