Breaking in the Copics!

Well, I did it! I stared at my beautiful box of Copics all morning and all afternoon long. I finally took off the plastic wrap after the boys were in bed. I didn't know where to start, so I picked out a few colors for the leaves, branch, and the owls. Then I decided to write down the item code and scribble each color next to it so that I had a better idea of what they looked like on the Whisper White cardstock (also so that I could remember what I had picked out). Then I just went for it.

So... what do you think?

Please remember it's my first time ever using the Copics... construtive critism is greatly appreciated. If anyone has ever used the Copic Markers before and can offer me any advice, I would love to hear it!

Butterfly kisses and wishes...

My new Unity Butterfly stamp set arrived today!
Funny thing happened too... UPS guy knocks on my door as he drops off the package and when I step out to get the package, this beautiful butterfly danced all around me. It entertained the boys and me for at least 10 minutes! You can see how it posed for my camera. Considering how blustery it was outside today, the butterfly sat quite still for each of the shots. My boys had just wished the other day that they could get up close to the butterflies that have been visiting our garden.

My new butterfly set will get inked up tomorrow, since I have been running around on less than 4 hours of sleep during the past 48 hours. But I have something new to play with along with my butterfly stamps! My birthday isn't for another four days, but Kevin surprised me with this most amazing gift:

My dear sweet friend, Carolina, gave me this super cute owl set from Gina K Designs for Mother's Day.

I can feel the stamp sets just BEGGING for some Copic markers to color them in! lol!

Card #1 or Card #2?

I changed up the card that I posted on Sunday.
I ran out of brads and also wanted to use the color spritzer.
So tell me...
Which card do you like better?

Card #1

Card #2

For more information on Card #1, you can go back to "Catching Up", posted on Sunday.

Here's what I did to card #2:

Sponge daubers were used on the edges of the Jersey Shore Designer Series Paper, Wild Wasabi cardstock, Pumpkin Pie punched stars, and 1/4" punched circles (not shown).
Photobucket

Have you ever used a Color Spritzer before?
This was my first time... SO easy!
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I put a mask over the "Happy Father's Day" stamped image and spritzed Brilliant Blue around the edge of the mask.
Photobucket

Here's my favorite part of this card:
Photobucket

The punched star has a natural curl to it after it has been punched.
I just warm up the cardstock between my fingers and get it to bend a little more after adhering the punched 1/4" circle. Cut a Stampin' Dimensional in half and pop it on the card as an accent.

Happy Stampin'!

Monday's Fun Day!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

We spent yesterday with my parents up in San Francisco.
Photobucket

We had such a fantastic time!
Keiji was asleep the minute the car started down the hill on the way home! lol!
Ken would not stop talking about his day with his Obaachan and Ojiichan.

Not much stamping done this weekend, but I will up late working on some swaps.
Hopefully I will have something to post tomorrow!

Monday's Fun Day!
I do have a few clear stamps that I found at my local Michael's the other day to give away! I picked out some that I thought you might like to have... I know that not everyone's Michaels carries the same stuff.

Just post a comment... I want to know what your plans are for the summer!

A number will be randomly picked on Friday.

Off to get creative!
Cheers!

Catching up!

Yet another week goes by where I don't post!
It has been a little crazy on this end. The latest is a wicked sinus headache and cold. It all started with the aftermath of the fires in the Santa Cruz mountains. The wind carried a lot of the smoke and ashes over the miles and I could really feel it on Friday.

Ashli... thank you! The peppermint tea is so soothing! I read your post and bought some right away. Yummy too! :)

Here's a quick and easy Father's Day card:

Photobucket

Cardstock: Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Jersey Shore DSP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Star Punch, 1/4" Circle punch, Paper Piercer, piercing mat, Bold Brights brads, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Dimensionals

Here's a tip for getting the tiny brads on the star and 1/4" circles:

Use a paper piercer and mat to pierce a hole in the center of the star and circle:
Photobucket

Then keep the star & circle on the mat and push the brad in through the hole and mat.
Photobucket

Here are a few tags I made uniquely for each of my Japanese workshop ladies who placed an order. I tried to match a tag to a stamp set that they ordered.
Photobucket

I managed to get my reveal package out to my DDSS!
I put a lot of little things in this clear bucket that I decorated with Ginger Blossom DSP, Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, and hatpin & beads/pearls from Pretties Kit.

OH! I can't forget our latest Monday's Fun Day winner!

What a great card and tutorial! I'm a coffee drinker but do love a good tea sometimes too. My favorite coffee is a non-fat, sugar free caramel latte...I know...why bother. But it is good anyway! :o)
