A Botanical Monday's Fun Day!

This MFD is now closed! Thank you everyone who posted to enter for the drawing!

I wish I could say "Happy Monday" like I normally do but unfortunately, today proved to be a very difficult day for Kevin. He went into work to find out that his work had filed for bankruptcy and most of the employees had to be let go today. He will continue to work for a while longer... it's just really hard to take it all in. So like I have been telling all of my friends who have lost their jobs over the past months... "When one door closes, another door opens." I hope that door will open very soon for Kevin. Hang in there, my love! It will be okay in the end.

This week's Monday's Fun Day comes from Joni down in Mission Viejo, CA. You can find her fabulous pictures, layouts, and cards on her blog, Kix in Life. She mailed me the Sale-A-Bration stamp set that she had earned to give away on my blog. How awesome is that? Thank you, Joni!!!

One day at a time...

Hey everyone! It has been a long time since I have been able get crafty, let alone "feel" crafty. Thank you to all who have sent me emails asking how I was doing and checking in with me. I appreciate your kind thoughts and encouraging words.

Ken is now on Singulair, Allegra, and Flonase. He will be starting his three allergy shots, 2 times a week, in about a month. Ken is also allergic to citrus and peanuts... we now carry an EpiPen for his peanut allergy as a precaution.

My migraines are more frequent and painful. Looking into what my options are... accupuncture, chiropractic therapy, massage therapy, CQ10... any other suggestions?
In the meantime, I keep telling myself "one day at a time." Sometimes, it's "one moment at a time" or "one foot in front of the other"... "just keep swimming"... "you can do it"... :)

I managed to get a few custom cards done for a client...

I also had this post ready to go yesterday and of course, yet another migraine hit its peak... I did my best to get the boys into bed and I crawled into mine soon after they fell asleep. I'm sorry this is a day late.

A Happy Easter and birthday wishes!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

My boys were up at the crack of dawn looking for hidden eggs around the family room. We spent the day up in San Francisco at my brother's house. He has two little boys who are each just a few months younger than my two boys. Needless to say, it was quite a LOUD Easter Sunday at the Katsuyama home!

Yesterday, I taught the Mother's Day Tote and notecards class at Memories Live On. What a terrific class! Thank you, ladies! You are all so much fun everytime we get together. Here are a few pictures from the class.

Michele, I'm sorry you had to leave early! I'll send you Copic samples of the stamped images.
We worked on the following techniques in class: feathering, highlighting with the blender marker, and "plastic" technique.

Rachel, thank you again for the yummy chocolate bunny and the adorable Easter card!
Here's a picture for everyone to see!

I made this notebook with Allison from Hambly yesterday. It was quick and easy... I love it!

Before I go, I just wanted to send birthday wishes to my friend Amy. She and her mother have been commuting from San Francisco to take my classes every month. Her birthday was today... I hope it was a wonderful birthday! I thought of you all day long. Happy birthday, Amy!

A Hambly Monday's Fun Day!

I have a new Monday's Fun Day (posted on Tuesday)!

It's a HAMBLY Monday's Fun Day, so before I get to the giveaway, let's chat a bit about HAMBLY! Can you tell I love Hambly? I know... I haven't been able to get to the craft table to play with the fabulous Hambly paper and rub-ons that I bought the other day, but I will... soon!

Allison from Hambly is coming this Saturday to Memories Live On for a FREE make & take!
If you are already heading over for my class at 1p, then come join me at 10a to make this little notebook using one of Hambly's many beautiful screen-printed overlays, paper, rub-ons, hair tie and a bamboo!

Photobucket

If you can't make it this Saturday, then you must try to make it over for Allison's clear mini book class called "Today Acrylic Album". It will be held at Memories Live On next Saturday (April 18th) from 10a - 11:30a. Fee: $30

In Memory of Jasper

My dear friend, Michelle, lost her beloved Jasper on Monday.
I just wanted her to know I am thinking of her and know how much it hurts to lose a fur baby.

MY FOREVER PET

There's something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
before things feel quite right.
But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart -- it needs to mend.
Though some may say, "It's just a pet,"
I know I've lost a friend.
You've brought such laughter to my home,
and richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss
with gentle, loving ways.
Companion, friend, and confidante,
A friend I won't forget.
You'll live forever in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet.
-- Susanne Taylor

I'm so sorry for your loss, Michelle.

hugs,
Jane
