PWC73 - Barely Banana, Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy

I am so excited to be able to participate in a Paper Pretties Challenge!

This week's Pretties Wednesday Challenge is a color combo!

Barely Banana
Ruby Red
Not Quite Navy

What a neat color combo, Christi!
I had SO much fun putting this one together. Thank you!

Here is my card:

Prettie Snowflake Angel

Stamp: Snowflake Kisses (Paper Pretties), Sparkling Snowflake (Hero Arts), Series 37 (Clear Stamps)
Cardstock: Barely Banana, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Barely Banana (SU), Not Quite Navy (SU), Ruby Red (SU), VersaMark (Tsukineko)
Copics: 0, B97, BG0000, E00, E30, E37, R37, RV95, T3, Y21
Accessories: Barely Banana 1/2" grosgrain ribbon (SU), linen thread (SU), Fresh Favorites II buttons (SU), Scalloped Tag (Spellbinders), clear embossing powder (SU), glue pen (Sakura), Dazzling Diamonds (SU), Stampin' Dimensionals (SU)

A couple of closeups:

Prettie ribbon and tag:

I used Barely Banana grosgrain ribbon across the front. I tied a separate bow down to the ribbon going across with some linen thread. A ruby red button was tied onto the bow with the same thread. I used the smallest die from the Scalloped Tag Shapeabilities Collection to cut out this cute little tag. Using a sponge, I added some Barely Banana to the edges. I stamped "holiday" in Ruby Red and "fun" in Not Quite Navy. The tag was added to the bow with a separate piece of linen thread.

Snowflake Kisses Sophia:

Here is darling Sophia making a snowflake angel in the snow.
Isn't she adorable?! I knew I wanted to use her for the challenge right away!
I managed to find Copics to match the Ruby Red, Barely Banana, and Not Quite Navy colors. Let's see... I used R37 first and then put a layer of RV95 over it for Ruby Red. I used Y21 for Barely Banana and B97 for Not Quite Navy. Perfect matches! :)

The big snowflakes in the background was made by stamping the large snowflake in VersaMark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I hope you like Snowflake Kisses Sophia as much as I do!

Thank you for stopping by!

Hero Arts Penguin and Snowman!

When Holly handed me the penguin stamp and snowman stamp from Hero Arts, I fell in love with them! They are just the cutest! Here's a quick card I whipped up as a sample for the store. I know I will be making more cards with these cuties.

I also wanted to show you this pumpkin I made using the Giga Scalloped Circle by Marvy Uchida.

I know I have seen this made somewhere but I can not remember where!
If you have a link to share for this pumpkin, please feel free to put it under comments. If you make one, I would love to see it as well!

If you want to see how I made this adorable pumpkin, click HERE! I have a step by step tutorial on the Scrapbooking Supplies R Us blog. Let me know what you think of it!

Happy Belated Birthday, Karin!

I just wanted to wish Karin Hoeve, Guest Designer for La-La Land Crafts, a "Happy Belated Birthday"!! With everything going on this week, I didn't get a chance to post the card I made for her on Tuesday. Then Irina pointed out to me that even if I had posted on Oct. 6th (her actual birthday), it would have been belated because she is in the Netherlands!! LOL! Oh! Our Karin has been a busy gal herself! She is the one that has been overseeing the La-La Land Crafts' Christmas Sneak Peek Blog Hop! Awesome job, Karin!!

Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARIN!

LLWWC7 and blog candy alerts

Well, long story short... Ken does not have the swine flu. He has strep throat. My poor boy had another round of high fevers with a headache, vomiting, and a stomach ache. At one point, he was so stiff and could hardly move his neck so the doctor mentioned meningitis. That nearly sent me over the edge. He is now on antibiotics and feeling so much better! Phew!

I am posting LLWWC7 late. That's La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #7.
It's a big challenge... the guest design team came up with a medley of challenges. It seems like a lot at first but it's actually not that hard to put together. Have you seen those cards out there with thirteen or fifteen challenges met? This challenge can't be as crazy as putting together thirteen challenges from different sites! lol!

Here's what the guest design team put together:

Karin - Two different patterned papers
Kimmi - Color Combination: Strawberries (red), Chocolate (brown) and Cream
Marcea - Embossing (dry or heat)
Paul - Scallops
Sue - Paper Piercing

I know you can do it! C'mon! Join in on the fun!!

Here's my card:

Ahoy, Pirate Rosie!

Now I KNOW y'all love giveaways.

Check this one out!

All you have to do is go visit Irina at La-La Land Crafts HERE.

How about this cutie?

You can have a chance to win Trick or Treat La La by visiting Sue HERE.

Good Luck!!

My Wild Sprout

Yipeeeee! I did it! I entered The Greeting Farm "Design My Sprout" contest!

Please let me know what you think!

You can go HERE to see my entry in their gallery.

Here's the sketch:

Here is my colored version:

Koh-i-noor Pencils, Gina K Design's odorless mineral spirits, and Copics.

This was so much fun to do!
I don't go into contests like this... was a bit nervous about hitting that "process" button. LOL!
Isn't that a bit silly? Knowing that this is simply an entry and not expecting anything but still getting the butterflies? Baby steps!

Have a thrilling Thursday!!

LLWWC6 - Paper Pieced "Trick or Treat" Lala

Quick coloring tutorials and a giveaway!

I made this Acetate Treat Holder for a tutorial over at Scrapbooking Supplies R Us.

I also made this quick and easy card.

Before you head over to the acetate holder tutorial, I wanted to show you how I colored the pumpkins on the tag and on the card.

For the tag, I stamped the image on watercolor paper in Staz-On.

I inked up my craft sheet with Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Distress Ink.

Before applying color to my image, I like to "wet" the work surface.

Then I pick up some of the Dried Marigold off of the craft sheet and start "painting" the pumpkin.

Here is the image after several layers of color:

Then I started to "pull" the colors from the pumpkin out onto the surrounding area.
This allowed me to create highlights on the pumpkin and add some color to the watercolor paper.

Here I added some bling with my clear atyou Spica pen.

A quick and easy way to rough up the edges is to simply use your fingernail!

I used Copics on the card. The paper I used is Coconut Swirl (Bazzill).

I used the chiseled end to give the pumpkin a quick coat of Y17.

I used YR04 to add some dimension to the pumpkin...

Then I went back over the entire image with the first Copic, Y17

I used G99 once to cover the stem and leaf.

Then I went over it again to create some shading.

Here's the pumpkin as is:

Here is the same image with a touch of gray all around the image:

Now for the information for the giveaway!

Everything you see on the little card can be yours!

- Copics I used (Y17, YR04, G99)

- Happy Halloween Pumpkin stamp (Hampton Arts)

- a bottle of Spooky Dew Drops

- Boo to You "Monster Mash" paper

- Boo to You "Frightful Friends" paper

- 1 yd of Orange swirl ribbon
