More Pink Cat Studio!!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Omg, omg, omg!!!

You have to check out what my sweet friend Amy gave me for a birthday present today...

Photobucket

These have got to be the most adorable baby images AND I get to dress baby up!!

How cool is that? Like I said... OMG!!
Oh... yes! That's right, ladies. A gift certificate too. I am in Pink Cat Studio HEAVEN! :)
Thank you, Amy!!!

I treated myself to an air compressor too. MLO had one in the store and Mort brought it out for me to play with after I was done teaching the class today. I found myself wanting to airbrush everything!

Photobucket

I airbrushed this little mouse and added some diamond stickles to the star.

How about a little sneak peek to what's coming tomorrow? I could not wait to play with my new Sweet Pea stamps! Here's one that I colored and cut out for tomorrow's project.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Thursday Unity Hip Hop Challenges

Hip Hop!

I didn't really get a chance to go online to Hip Hop with the girls today. :(
Just really hard to get on the computer during the day and by the time I get on at night, the challenges and chats are just about over. But I figured I can still Hip Hop and have fun this way.
Maybe once we settle into summer, I can participate during the day. :)

Ken graduated from Kindergarten today!
He was among 4 in his class to have perfect attendance but the only one to not have any tardies!!
I now have a first grader!!

Photobucket

I also have a wicked migraine tonight. Instead of staying up until the wee hours of the morning crafting, I think I will go to bed early for once. Unfortunately, this means no brand new cards to post tonight. Luckily, I happened to already have cards from a few months back that meet today's Hip Hop challenges! Oldies but goodies!

Before I post those, I do have a new project to share that I had worked on for Memories Live On, using a stamp from Unity's This is the Time set.

June Twilight Tuesday Sketch Challenge #5

TTSC5

That is just a sneak peek to the whole project.
It is actually a picture frame (creative imaginations) that I decided to alter.

When I first saw this dp (Prima Marketing "Over The Rainbow") in the store, I immediately thought of Bella and Edward. I think it's the heart with the tears and the sparkle on the paper. Anyways, I really wanted to frame this picture that I had come across the other day that I love.

Let's start with the picture frame.
I added Post-it® notes to the window area to protect the opening.

Photobucket

Why you ask?

Photobucket

I guess you can say I am officially addicted to airbrushing! Actually, the picture frame was looking a bit too stark so I wanted to add some blue to it. Bella Blue. :) j/k

Here's it is after a minute of spraying. I tried to make it look like the sky.

Photobucket

Add the layers of dp and stamp the apple (imaginisce) on Bazzill Bling cardstock, add one of my favorite pictures of Bella & Edward and voilĂ !

Photobucket

Quote:
Option three: Edward loved me. The bond forged between us was not one that could be broken by absence, distance, or time. And no matter how much more special or beautiful or brilliant or perfect than me he might be, he was as irreversibly altered as I was. As I would always belong to him, so would he always be mine.

TTIC #34, Atyou Spica Pens, and more Airbrushing with Copics!

I am so excited that my sweet friend Jacquie kicked off her guest designer spot for Twilight Tuesday today with their Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge #34 - "Celebrate Summer". Congrats, Jacquie!

I thought this would be a great time to jump in on the fun with the challenges! Well, okay... here it goes!

It all started out with the image. Funny because I always had Renesmee in mind when I was playing around with her. I had shown you all how I airbrushed the large scalloped oval with my new ABS 2. Then I had set the card aside, unfinished.

I pulled it back out for the challenge. Renesmee having fun in the sun during the summer!

It's for Twilight so we need some dazzle! One of the goodies in my giveaway this month is a set of three Copic Atyou Spica Glitter pens. These awesome pens have micro glass flakes that dries quickly (no mess either in the application!) and sparkle so pretty! Take a look for yourself!

Photobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Here I used the CLEAR Atyou Spica glitter pen for Renesmee's skin.
She doesn't sparkle quite like her father, but her skin glows when she goes out in the sun.
I just wanted a soft sheen so I went over her skin very lightly.

Photobucket

I thought the words "Hello Sunshine" that comes with this set captures Renesmee so well.

Starting with the lighter color, I gave the small oval a coat of yellow.

Photobucket

Then I went around the edges with a darker color.
Photobucket

To even out the colors, I went back over everything with the yellow again.

Photobucket

I love seeing what's underneath my project after I am done with the airbrush.

Airbrushing with Copic Markers

I have been asked about airbrushing with Copics by a few of my readers.
To be honest, MLO doesn't sell the ABS (Airbrushing System) and the local Japanese stationary store that sells them has been out of the ABS 1 and 2, so I have been holding off on ordering online.

Which one to buy? It depends on you and how you will be using it.

If you are looking to simply try it out and want something simple and compact, then get the ABS 2. The catch? You can only use the Aircan D60, unless you happen to have with an Air Adaptor and a hose. Then you can upgrade to larger aircans.

If you are looking for a complete and the most cost-effective system (without purchasing the compressor), then the ABS 1 is for you! You can use either Aircan 80 and Aircan 180.

Then, I stopped by Kinokuniya the other day and saw that they had the ABS 2 in stock. I thought "Why not?!"

Photobucket

It comes with the Aircan D-60 and the air grip. It holds up to approx. 8 minutes of air.

(Aircan 80 = 15-20 min. of air) (Aircan 180 = 45-45 minutes of air). The difference between Aircans:
It is economical for those who are unsure of the product or a complete newbie. It is definitely compact!

Pull off the grey cap and screw on the air grip.
Put a Copic marker in (pointed tip "up" if using the chiseled end) into the air grip. Otherwise, use the Standard Broad / Medium Broad ends of a Copic or Sketch marker.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Point straight down at your scrap paper (for practice).
The further away you are, the soft closures your area will be.
The closer you get, the stronger your will be.

Photobucket Photobucket

Here I used the airbrush to "soften" the edges of my scalloped oval. I could do the same with a sponge dauber or a sponge, but OH! the satisfaction of airbrushing... "

Remember the card that I showed you yesterday? Pink Cat Studio's Lily is sitting on a turtle. Behind them is a pink scalloped circle.

Congratulations! Please email me your mailing address to: jane.matsumoto@sbcglobal.net

I will post a new Monday's Fun Day sometime tomorrow.
My cat, Mia, is in recovery at The Cat Hospital. She had to have several tumors removed this morning and I am running on empty right now... need to get some rest. The blogger was down for awhile, so I was waiting to be able to post the winner before heading off to bed.

Have a terrific Tuesday!!

No more music? Not quite...

Thank you to all who have sent me many compliments on the music that is on my playlist.
I received one comment recently requesting that I remove the music from my blog.
After serious consideration, I have come up with a solution that I think might work for those who do not care for music on blogs (for various reasons) and for those who still want access to my playlist.

If you look to the left hand corner of my blog, you will see my profile picture.
Underneath it is a link to "Whoopsie Daisy's Favorite..." section.
Just click on "Music" and you will have access to my Playlist. You can bookmark it too!

Hope this is good for everyone! :)

I will be back in just a few with a new Monday's Fun Day winner!

Cheers,

Coloring with Copics with a limited range of colors

I was pleasantly surprised when Amy gave me a "thank you" gift for doing a couple of make and takes during her birthday scrapbooking party at Memories Live On. My jaw hit the ground when I opened the package to find this most adorable stamp set inside...

Photobucket

I have been dying to get my hands on their images and now I have a whole set! Woo hoo!!
Thank you, Amy!

Now how about a quick tutorial on how to color with Copics when you have just a few colors to work with...

One of the questions I get asked the most during Copic demonstrations is: "What colors should I buy?"

Well, I always suggest the basic markers that you will need or use often... the "0" Colorless Blender, the "00" or "000" of the color families, skin tones, and hair color. Then you can start looking at the colors that you like in the color families...the Pinks and Reds, Yellows and Oranges, Blues and Greens, Purple, Earth tones, Grays, etc. Just keep in mind that the colors will blend the best if you stay 3-4 digits apart at most with the last number on each marker (ie. R20 and R24). For more information on these fabulous markers, just scroll down the left side of my blog and look under "LABELS" for my posts on "Copics". Hopefully you will find some helpful information in those older posts. Let me know if you need more or have any questions!

For this tutorial, let's just say you have these random colors to pick from:
E00 (skin white), E57 (light walnut), R20 (blush), R24 (prawn), YG63 (pea green), and the Colorless Blender.

Let's start with the turtle. I used YG63 in one layer for the entire turtle.

Photobucket

Then I went back over the areas of the turtle where I wanted some shading.

Photobucket

I quickly and thoroughly went over the turtle's head, arms, leg, and tail in small circular motions with the Colorless Blender. Let it dry first before going back again and again because (keep in mind) that this marker is not really a blender but more of a "pusher".

Photobucket

The turtle's shell looked a little "off" so I went over it all with a coat of YG63.

Photobucket

This darkened some of the areas I wanted to sparkle a bit so I went over some of the areas with the Colorless Blender.

Photobucket

Taking a break from the turtle, I moved up and started working on her outfit with R20. I covered the polka dots as well. I knew I had the R24 marker (which is my 3-4 colors darker than R20 marker) that I wanted to use on her outfit. However, if I used the R24 first and then tried to put the pink polka dots in, it might not show through as nicely. It might have worked with the Colorless Blender. I might have to try that out and post it tomorrow!

Photobucket

R24 (prawn) was used to add some shadows to the dress.

Photobucket

To smooth out the lines, I went back over the outfit with R20.

Photobucket

To add more highlights, I used the Colorless blender.

Photobucket

Now for her hair.... E57 (light walnut) was used to color the hair... again using circles and constantly moving the marker. I keep saying mentioning this because my readers ask why they get streaks and how they can avoid them. Honestly, it will all come together with practice. Keep trying. You will see! The ladies in my classes have got it together now! Practice, practice, practice! Keep that marker moving until you get to the end.

Photobucket

Time for more highlights using the Colorless Blender!

Photobucket

Whoopsie! Can't forget the flower on her hat! I used R20.

Photobucket

Here, I used the Colorless Blender to "wet" the facial area. This helps make it easier to add a layer of skin color without streaks.

Photobucket

Time for some E00 on her face!

Photobucket

R20 for the cheeks.

Photobucket

Too much? Use E00 to blend and then use the Colorless Blender... work in large circles. Remember that this blender is a "pusher".

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Here's the finished image:

Photobucket

I love this set! Can't wait to ink the rest up!
Come back tomorrow for more projects!
