Catching up!

Yet another week goes by where I don't post!
It has been a little crazy on this end. The latest is a wicked sinus headache and cold. It all started with the aftermath of the fires in the Santa Cruz mountains. The wind carried a lot of the smoke and ashes over the miles and I could really feel it on Friday.

Ashli... thank you! The peppermint tea is so soothing! I read your post and bought some right away. Yummy too! :)

Here's a quick and easy Father's Day card:



Cardstock: Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Jersey Shore DSP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Star Punch, 1/4" Circle punch, Paper Piercer, piercing mat, Bold Brights brads, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Dimensionals

Here's a tip for getting the tiny brads on the star and 1/4" circles:

Use a paper piercer and mat to pierce a hole in the center of the star and circle:


Then keep the star & circle on the mat and push the brad in through the hole and mat.





Here are a few tags I made uniquely for each of my Japanese workshop ladies who placed an order. I tried to match a tag to a stamp set that they ordered.




I managed to get my reveal package out to my DDSS!
I put a lot of little things in this clear bucket that I decorated with Ginger Blossom DSP, Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, and hatpin & beads/pearls from Pretties Kit.

Monday's Fun Day - Wake up and smell the coffee!

I have to say I am in LOVE with Unity Stamp Company. I'll be back to posting SU! cards tomorrow, but here's a card I made with a couple of the stamps from Magnificent Moments .



Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Ink: River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Handsome Hunter
Stamp: Unity "Magnificent Moment"
Accessories: Photo Corner Punch, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Dimensionals, Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive, Dew Droplets (Mens), VersaMarker, Gelly Powder Cuppa Joe, Glimmer Mist (Coffee Shop)


I made my own background:


Then for the coffee cup, I had to make a mask so that I could spray it with glimmer mist.


Here's the glimmer mist... be sure to shake it well so that the shimmer that settles at the bottom of the bottle is gone. Otherwise, your spray will clog.


Be sure to protect your surface well. Glimmer Mist gives a lot of coverage and it does stain. I added several more Post-it® notes all around the matted image to make sure it did not get stained other than on the coffee cup. I sprayed the cup and then patted off the excess with a paper towel. After peeling off Post-it® notes, I heat set it with my heat gun.


I used a VersaMarker to color in where I wanted the scented embossing powder to stick and then used my heat gun to heat it up.


It smells SO good!





Monday's Fun Day Giveaway!

Magnificent Moment with Unity!

Thank you, everyone, for your emails and phone calls.
I am doing much better now. For those who as just catching up, I ended up in the ER last Sunday for a wicked migraine. It took a few days for the meds to get out of my system and the side effects to wear off, but I am doing much better now. If I can only do something about this crazy heat wave we are experiencing!!!

Here's how the stamps work:



You can see that a little brown bag comes with the wood mounted stamps.

I even bought coffee scented embossing powder to go with my Magnificent Moment stamp set! Here's what I did with it...



It smells SO yummy!!!

I added this little coffee cup as an embellishment to the clear acrylic picture frame that holds the "Homemade By" recipe card that I stamped and mounted...


I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the unmounted "Dessert" stamp that I stamped on the recipe card. Here's a close up:

Monday's Fun Day winner!

Wow! What a week!
I'm so sorry I haven't posted regularly in awhile.
I can not remember the last time I actually sat down at my craft table to stamp!
My hostess club will be meeting Sun/Mon and I have a Japanese workshop on Tuesday, so I will definitely be getting some cards up for all to view over the weekend.

Mother's Day projects at the preschool and with the neighborhood playgroup (Bela Buddies) has been keeping me super busy the past few days too.

Here's a sample that one of my 3 year olds made in my Tot Time class!



I bought tubs of Crayola Air-Dry Clay and sequins. Easy peasy!

Kodomo no hi

Today was a very special day in many ways.
Let's see...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KARI! :)

It was Cinco de Mayo. I was craving that margarita ALL day long!

We were married at Hakone Gardens, Saratoga CA.



I made Stamper's Showcase on Stampin' Up! Thanks Steph for the head's up!


My dear friend, Anna, came drove down with her husband and dropped their daughters off with us for the night. What a wonderful treat!

Best friends for life!


The younger two were exhausted after chasing each other for hours!


Most importantly, it was Children's Day in Japan... Kodomo no hi.

Traditionally, May 5th is celebrated as Boy's Day or tango no sekku. Girl's Day or hina matsuri is celebrated on March 3rd.

Today, we celebrated the happiness and health of our children and wished them a very good future.

I'm still new to blogging and would love getting feedback on ways to improve my blog.
Since my stamp set is called "Lots of Thoughts", send me just that. Lots of thoughts on what you want to see, what you like and what you don't like. It can even be about what you love about a particular blog or don't like about another blog (please do NOT link or mention names).

For me, I still need to come up with a watermark for my pictures and a banner for my blog. I also need to figure out a way to do the pop-up comment window. Still not sure what to do about the music except perhaps keep it and hope that everyone can find the player quickly enough to pause it or mute their computer... or that the music is gentle enough for most everyone. I was scared out of my skin the other night and have been very sensitive about this every since! lol! Hoping that the slideshow doesn't bother many. Or the seemingly endless number of blogs that inspire me.

ANYWAYS...
I will use a number generator or a number picker (one of my boys) and post a winner on Friday, 3pm PST.

3-D Friday - So berry special strawberries! ~ Monday's Fun Day Winner too!

If you are looking for a site for templates galore, search no more!
Paperscrapz has a variety of templates for cards, scrapbooking, and projects (like the strawberry that I am going to show you today.)

I will call these my "So Berry Special Strawberries".

The strawberry template was submitted to Paperscrapz by Sherry Brickey.

I printed it out and cut out the patterns. Then I enlarged each 150%.

Place the strawberry template to red backside of the cherry paper from Summer Picnic DSP and trace it with a pencil. Then cut it out.




Turn it over and use the black scoring blade on your paper cutter and score each petal to the middle point as well as the end tab.




It should look like this when you are done:



Take a sponge dauber and ink it up in Real Red. Distress the edges for shading and punch holes.




Take the leaf template and place it on textured Wild Wasabi card stock. Trace it with a pencil. Cut it out and distress the edges with a sponge dauber that has been inked up in Wild Wasabi. Punch hole in the middle.






Add a strip of sticky tape to the end tab on the strawberry cut out.
Attach end tab to the inside of the other end of the cut out.




Thread about 11" of Old Olive poly-twill ribbon through the holes of the strawberry cut out. Tighten the top as you go. Fill the inside just before you close it up tight. I filled mine up with watermelon, cherry, and apple Jolly Rancher candies. It makes this smell so fruity!





Take the leaf cut out and use your fingers to curl the ends a little. If you gently rub it between your thumb and forefinger, the warmth of your fingers will help curl the ends without creasing the card stock.




Attach the leaf cut out to the strawberry box by threading both ends of the ribbon through the hole. Tie a double knot up on top.
